Far above the village of Barovia sits Castle Ravenloft, the home and fortress of vampire lord Strahd Von Zarovich. Legends claim that Strahd flies with the bats and runs with the wolves to terrorize the countryside. Ancient tales also tell of dungeons and catacombs deep under the castle. Other stories recall the great halls, treasures, and glory of Ravenloft in centuries past. "House of Strahd" is a revision of the classic gothic horror tale I6: Ravenloft, one of the most popular adventures ever produced for the AD&D game. This version is updated for the AD&D 2nd Edition rules, and those from the Ravenloft campaign set. Count Strahd is now more powerful, and his castle is even more terrifying! TSR 9418

This set included a 48-page rulebook covering the first three levels of play, and was skillfully edited by ๐๐ซ. ๐. ๐๐ซ๐ข๐ ๐๐จ๐ฅ๐ฆ๐๐ฌ from the original 1974 D&D rules written by ๐๐๐ซ๐ฒ ๐๐ฒ๐ ๐๐ฑ and ๐๐๐ฏ๐ ๐๐ซ๐ง๐๐ฌ๐จ๐ง. Officially, its only title is "Sample Dungeon" but colloquially it goes by various names based on Zenopus, the doomed wizard who built the dungeon under his tower. For centuries, Maโatโs temple sat peacefully in silent beauty; a great symbol of justice and harmony. The gems of its glistening ceiling glitter and fade with each rising sun as Ra lights the daytime sky. Isfet, the god of chaos, Maโatโs greatest enemy, has grown restless. Some have rumored that he tore out Maโatโs heart out of jealousy of her power. The bravest of adventurers must face the challenges of Duat and keep up with the determined Maโat.
Conquest, not beauty, is in the eyes of this beholder. A promise of adventure and riches, with a hint of total annihilation. The party should also have several powerful magical items, since the challenge that it faces is great. The geographical background and the local population are left vague so that the adventure can fit any campaign setting. Pgs. 39-44

Locals are convinced a nearby tribe of goblins are responsible, and have offered a reward to anyone brave enough to sort it out. The chief of the goblin tribe is an enthusiastic fisher and a particular fish, Salvel the Talking Trout has continually eluded him. For centuries, the Great Swamp has hidden hints of an ancient culture of barbarian kings. While passing through this miserable bog, the PCs encounter Stygoth the Damned, a half-dead black dragon driven mad by a mysterious disease. Delving further, the heroes discover that the disease is tied to the very swamp itself. A great corruption once infested this place, destroying the savage barbarian kings and leaving only mighty statues as their legacy. Now this corruption has returned, and a terrible Witch Queen is mining the corrupted swamp-earth to produce evil, blighted artifacts. In order to stop the spread of these evil weapons, the heroes must enter the ancient caves of the savage kings, put to rest the corrupt legacy of their downfall, end the disease that scars the land, and then face off against the Witch Queen herself.

Laugherโs Gorge occupies a stretch of the canyon that runs through the local badlands, named for the haunting laughter that occasionally erupts from its depths. When travelers using the road past the gorge become infected with cackle fever, itโs up to the party to find out whatโs causing the mysterious laughing sickness. Though they find a pack of gnolls infesting the canyon, itโs no joke when they discover who (or what) is pulling the strings! Laughter and humor are central themes in No Laughing Matter. The players are met with the will of a prankster god, riddles to solve, and may be forced to come up with some jokes of their own. But this isnโt an adventure to take lightly. If the party underestimates Laugherโs Gorge, they may find themselves infected with cackle feverโฆ and thereโs nothing funny about that!
