War Dogs in the Woods is an adventure that scales between 4 to 6 first-level characters. There are three combat encounters and one skill montage, yielding up to four victories. The antagonists are a group of War Dogs preparing to assault a town. It can work as the kickoff for a War Dogs focused campaign, or to inject a little variety into an existing campaign. During a respite at an inn, a man barges in, declaring: ‘I found another one.’ It’s the latest instance of dismembered bodies in the woods. The townspeople ask the heroes to investigate what they think is a pack of dark wolves assaulting travelers. An examination of the site reveals dark wolf tracks, but also a new trail leading into the woods. During the first encounter in the woods, several unknown contacts, represented by “blips,” advance towards the heroes, and are eventually revealed as War Dogs. The heroes learn the War Dogs are part of a camp gathering to assault the town. From there, the heroes journey deeper into the forests, eventually finding and destroying the War Dog camp.
The frontier town of Ehrshire is expanding rapidly, much to the delight of the burgeoning town’s lord, Earl Wallace Viktir. Something has roused the local plant-life into a frenzy, as if the entire forest has an axe to grind against the loggers! Will the party be able to get to the root of the problem… or will they be left barking up the wrong tree? Forest in Twilight is a four- to six-hour adventure for 1st-2nd level characters, designed for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, with a forest wilderness theme, blights, druids, and a trek through the woods to find the origin of the blights. The level of guidance is for newer DMs but without being training wheels. Set in the Neverwinter Woods north of Phandalin, blights are leaving the woods and attacking settlers and travelers along the roads in the area. A group of druids wants to keep the people and forest safe, but one druid in particular is only concerned about the forest. The PCs will have to determine which side to back, if any, in finding out more about the blights and stopping the threat. This adventure can also be used as a standalone adventure, or slotted into the early quests in the Dragon of Icespire Peak or Lost Mine of Phandelver campaigns.
