From time immemorial, the rulers of the mortal world have been counseled and tempted by capricious primordial spirits who rule over the elements. The greatest and most sinister of these was a half-kraken medusa known as the Maelstrom Queen, who sought to supplant the mortal races with her own line of immortal tentacled monstrosities. On the verge of her ultimate triumph, when the leviathans at her command rose from the depths, a legendary assassin murdered the Maelstrom Queen in her half-submerged palace with her own weapon. But the primordial mistress refused to let something as trifling as death put an end to her designs. Every 13 years, she regenerates enough mystic power to rise again, and the world’s greatest heroes are sent to murder the Maelstrom Queen once more.

The Tower of Bondage is a frightening place for player characters that are used to raiding dungeons and once they have grown tired or run out of spells, can leave the dungeon, and find a warm comfortable inn. Not so with the Tower of Bondage. Once you enter, you may not leave unless you escape, and the only way out is down. The first level contains: ● 17 deadly encounters ● New stats for animated statues ● Traps ● Even a riddle to solve to save their lives The Tower of Bondage is a fresh look at the ancient Netherese lich known as Aumvor the Undying of the Forgotten Realms, and featured in Champions of Ruin. Having finally fled to the Endless Caverns and having reached lichdom, he was no longer able to feed upon the life force of others. His minions built hidden portals to his domain in order to trap living victims to slake his lust and continually feed his gluttony. That was long ago and the portals have been forgotten with time. Recently, a forest ranger has stumbled onto the location of one of the old portals and has made it public. Dare to enter the snare and be teleported deep into the Star Mounts without the luxury of returning to town at your leisure for supplies and rest. If you escape, you will have a better appreciation for life and a whole lot of Aumvor’s treasure to boot. Rumor has it that Aumvor the Undying is getting old and slow, and perhaps – hungry The Tower of Bondage “Aumvor’s Welcome” is the first level of a much larger complex that opens to the Endless Caverns and the under dark. Base of Operations is a short adventure intended for four 5th-level characters. DMs can easily modify the adventure to suit higher- or lower-level adventurers, or larger or smaller parties of adventurers. Simply adding a few monsters to every encounter area makes the adventure more challenging for larger parties, and adding levels to any of the humanoids can make them more of a threat to high-level groups. For low-level adventurers, make the relationship between the two factions within Brightstone Keep more strained, and take away a few monsters from each group. You can remove levels from some of the humanoids in the adventure to make it a lower-level challenge, but it is important that the orc cleric (described in encounter area 8) still have the ability to animate the dead. Still, he can have fewer minions around him when encountered, and that makes him less of a challenge for a lowlevel party.

The Last Point is a prison and outpost of the Corrive Empire, a realm ruled by a cruel green dragon named Lady Corrive. The Corrivians are well known for their hatred of magic users, and their extensive slave trade industry. A forest realm with coasts on three sides and mountains running through the center, Corrive is rich with a variety of resources. However, the rocky northern coast is out of the way of their navy and relies heavily on hired ships to help transport various goods including prisoners and slaves to isolated outposts, training centers, and slave colonies. The northwest coast of Corrive is rocky and many parts of it are elevated, making it isolated from much of the mainland. The Last Point is a recycling center where captives meant for death row who are either deemed “not important enough” to execute publicly or “too disgraceful” to execute publicly are sent to be tortured and then killed. The place seems to operate on sort of a “well, we have too many so some have to go now” policy. The Last Point has no official deadlines for killing.
