In this action packed scenario the players will be led down a violent path of vengeance. While traveling, the party encounters a beautiful foreign girl in danger. She only utters "help" before collapsing. After the quick and deadly skirmish the players learn that a poor girl is in fact a daughter of the eastern ambassador. She tells the players of all the terrible things that happened to her and begs them to act as her katharas, warriors who will return her honor. The bloody trail of revenge brings the players in a conflict with a vicious captain and his 30 warriors in several fully detailed combat encounters. “The Lost Mines of Karak” is the sequel to “The Shadow Rift of Umbraforge” and the fourth part of the Scales of War adventure path. After the player characters' success in "Siege of Bordrin's Watch" and "The Shadow Rift of Umbraforge", they have garnered something of a reputation in the city of Overlook. They are introduced to a wealthy patron that believes there is a connection between a shadar-kai arms dealer (from the previous two adventures) and a long lost dwarven mine. The patron wishes the PCs to find and secure the mine in order to use its wealth and resources to defend the city. The party then must travel through a wasteland and desert to find this mine. The Licktoads, once the great and fierce goblin tribe in Brinestump Marsh, were defeated by human adventurers! All that remains of the tribe are its four goblin "heroes". Homeless and bored, they left their swampy homeland to join the neighboring goblin tribe, the Birdcrunchers. The good news is that the Birdcrunchers are willing to let the goblin heroes join their tribe. The better news is that the Birdcrunchers have heard of these four, and want one of them to become their new chieftain.
