This scenario was originally written for use as a competition event at Games Day 1987. We have published the adventure so that you will be able to reproduce the competition. The scenario also serves as an introduction to the forthcoming supplement detailing the land of Lustria. (see WFRP World Map, p272). At Games Day the party had to play the part of a small band of pygmies, and we have included details of this party so that you can use them too. You should carefully read the notes on Witchdoctors, Ancestor Spirits and the spell Control Spirits before starting play. If a conventional party is used here there is a significant chance that players will lose favourite characters. Much of the scenario is geared towards pygmies, (some tunnel heights, the presence of pygmy ancestors and so on), and a party without access to pygmy-magic may find some areas extremely difficult. 4th Edition

From time immemorial, the rulers of the mortal world have been counseled and tempted by capricious primordial spirits who rule over the elements. The greatest and most sinister of these was a half-kraken medusa known as the Maelstrom Queen, who sought to supplant the mortal races with her own line of immortal tentacled monstrosities. On the verge of her ultimate triumph, when the leviathans at her command rose from the depths, a legendary assassin murdered the Maelstrom Queen in her half-submerged palace with her own weapon. But the primordial mistress refused to let something as trifling as death put an end to her designs. Every 13 years, she regenerates enough mystic power to rise again, and the world’s greatest heroes are sent to murder the Maelstrom Queen once more.

Picking up where Chapter 33: Adventures in the Ptolus book leaves off, the adventures in The Night of Dissolution cover an arc that pits player characters against the darkest foes the city of Ptolus has ever faced. Following the threads of a hidden conspiracy, the characters find themselves up against insane cultists, wild chaos magic, and horrors from the primordial days of the world. This adventure book is laced with urban intrigue, high action, and even some dungeon exploration. Some highlights include: A description of Pythoness House, a haunted oracle/brothel that hides a trove of weapons vital in the fight against the Cults of Chaos. A huge secret temple of chaos where insidious fanatics worship the dreaded Galchutt. Details of a city-wide network of covert spies and agents that extends even into the highest echelons of Ptolus’ elite society. These adventures culminate in the player characters’ attempt to stave off the Night of Dissolution, a dark time long foretold when the slumbering Galchutt will awaken in their hidden lairs deep below the city—and bring catastrophe and woe to the world. The Beautiful Hardcover Book available today at Compose Dream Games! Hell used to run on fear. Now it runs on quarterly projections. When Greed seized the Burning Throne, the first thing to go was overhead. Guards? Redundant. Torture specialists? Consolidated. The Styx? Outsourced. What remains is a skeleton crew of overworked fiends, a crumbling infrastructure of eternal punishment, and one very exploitable gap in security. Your players are the strike team. The mission: extract a damned soul who knows too much. The catch: even a budget Hell is still Hell. Expect devils who've traded pitchforks for pivot tables, infernal middle management clinging to what little power remains, and hazards that would make OSHA weep. A Privatized Little Hell is the adventure for tables that have outgrown dungeons and want something with teeth—and a severance package. A high-level dark comedy adventure for 5e that will make your current capitalist hellscape seem less bad. God’s been robbed. We’re breaking the thief out of Hell to find out where he stashed the goods. Are you in? Normally Hell would never relinquish a soul, but after a tumultuous infernal fiscal crisis/civil cold war, Pride’s out, and Greed is in. Guards have been downsized, security assets have been sold, and the Forces of Good have hatched a plot. Yet even in destitution, Hell is still dangerous. There are only a few heroes strong enough to attempt such a mission: your players! A Privatized Little Hell is a 5e-compatible Black Comedy Dungeon Crawl for roughly four characters of sixteenth level. During the Last War, the ancients deployed their war-skiff assault units from elevator platforms that now dot a sector of the wasteland like a ravaged forest of rusted steel stumps. Most of the platforms are buried by the shifting sands or stand as shattered reminders of a war that was once meaningful, but one of these decaying steel stumps still remains partially energized, layered with tunnels below ground, and powered by a unique extra-dimensional reactor core beneath the surface of the planet.

Men always seek the blood of monsters. Some spill it to avenge their massacred families. Others swim through an ocean of gore to find treasures worth the envy of kings. A few know blood can be a priceless treasure in and of itself. Alchemy has long used the lifeblood of monstrosities as arcane fuel, and of all the legendary beasts, the blood of the gorgon holds the most secrets. Few know the blood's darkest lore, its ability to draw out the monster within every soul. Those who drink gorgon's blood are forever changed, and the darkest horrors of their mind unleashed. The heroes hunt a deadly murderer who stalks the streets of the Free City of Zobeck after nightfall, and cross blades with a guild of monsters who rule the city from below. Lucky heroes might risk no more than their lives. Unlucky heroes must wager their souls in a game where monsters and men dance close enough to share their blood and their fate.

The Fall of Blackbottom is an adventure for the Draw Steel roleplaying game for 1st-level heroes. It’s intended for four to six players, including the Director. This fast-paced, high-stakes adventure assumes that players have moderate experience with the Draw Steel system and the game’s core rulebooks. The Fall of Blackbottom begins on a calm morning at the Drunken Fool, a three-story inn renowned for its baths and jaunty atmosphere. When Ajax’s siege plunges the city into chaos, the heroes are instructed by a member of the Chain of Acheron to lead civilians to a safehouse where the Chain will regroup and help the helpless flee the city. When the heroes arrive at the safehouse, however, it becomes clear that no one is coming to help. What’s more, one or more of them are wanted by Ajax, known to the Overlord by name. Their lives—and the lives of everyone they’ve saved—now rest solely on their shoulders.

In this adventure players are set first on a simple task, to solve the disappearance of the local witch before outside forces take an interest. But as the players get deeper, they will rapidly kind themselves on a quest for far more, as they range from an alchemist's lair on a crumbling tower down to a dark swamp full of mystery and danger, seeking a holy relic that might lead them to the outskirts of Hell itself. All in service of the sleepy Village Sujeira and the dusty souls within. 1452: Saving Sujeira’s Soul is an adventure set in northern Portugal on an alternate history Earth during the year 1452, in a world where history is much the same, but for the fact that the Rus are all hirsute dwarves, the hordes that poured out of central Asia were orcish (and half-orcs are mostly janissaries split among the Ottoman Empire’s demesnes), and elves are creatures of rumors and myth. Halflings live among the English and Portuguese in villages and farms, while goblins are pests best left for dead in the wilds between civilized countries. The Church arms its inquisitors with holy blessings, for witches are not mere milk-souring old women but vile devil-pacted souls, and wizards and sorcerers seek human and kine for sacrifices to fuel their darkling magics. There be dragons on the edges of the world, and ogres and sea serpents and giants, but the alchemists of this world know things beyond mortal ken and fight these horrors with science and canny concoctions. In ancient times, the area now known as the Dyrgalas Fens was home to a flourishing civilization of nature worshippers who wrested a living from the forest around them, built open-air temples, and generally did well. Over the centuries, a series of natural disasters (some say a series of foolish magical experiments) led to a rising water table and turned the forest into a vast swamp. As the water rose, most of the people left. Today, a few stalwart humans remain in the fens, living off the land through hunting, fishing, trapping, and even some agriculture. In addition to these honest folk, the Dyrgalas has some less savory residents, including both black and green dragons, trolls, hags, escaped criminals, and a host of lycanthropes. Most of these creatures prey on travelers foolish or unlucky enough to enter the fen, and sometimes raid both inside and outside the fen. This adventure, intended for characters of levels 6 to 8, deals with one group of raiders who make their lair in the Dyrgalas. A weretiger called Gavriil has formed a group of assorted lycanthropes into a band of cunning brigands. The lycanthropes favorite caper involves infiltrating a merchant caravan while posing as travelers, merchants, or swords for hire, then attacking it from within. Gavriil and his servants also take on kidnappings, murder for hire, and any other unsavory tasks that come their way.

A self-contained, zero-prep one-shot for 2-3 players at levels 2-3, playable in a single 2-3 hour session. Cattle are vanishing in the night, perfect rings are seared into the fields, and villagers who have seen the lights come back changed. The party investigates a frightened farming hamlet, tracks the lights to a disc-shaped craft half-buried in a crop ring, and boards it to rescue a missing farmer's daughter before confronting the cold intelligence that pilots the vessel and escaping as it climbs. A played-straight horror-comedy: every villager treats the terror as real, and the comedy grows from absurd specifics rather than winking at the premise. Four acts across 18 keyed scenes, four pregenerated characters, six original stat blocks, five battle maps, a genuine branching choice, scaling for 2-4 players, and Game Master guidance throughout.

None know from where the Heresiarch first came, but all remember the night that it did. It rode down from the bleeding stars on a great serpent, hurling bolts of obsidian lightning that shattered the monuments and capitols of every nation. Its infernal army swept aside the defenses of the mortal empires in a single hour, decimating legions once thought to be the invincible fist of humanity's god-kings. Faceless priests - each bearing the symbol of the trident - drifted through the fallen cities and scorched villages on a frigid wind, and when they rose to greet the huddled men and women ringed by their festering, bloated dead, they spoke a single, simple offer: worship the Heresiarch or die. Thousands of crusaders fell tonight so that you might be given this chance. In a last stand that, for the first time, united all of the empires of humanity as brothers and sisters, a way was cleared into an infernal stronghold said to contain a gate to the Heresiarch’s fane. All is silent save for the clangor of distant battle. Surrounded by grim-faced knights and teary-eyed peasants – their hands clasped in desperate hope – you step through the glowing, churning doorway, knowing there will be no help and likely no return.
